Too in you...I hated HIMYM as it was just so Grrrr!! Too in your face, shouty...only Alyson hannigan made it acceptable for me as it tried too hard to be Friends, takes WAY too long to get to the point of actually meeting the mother and I really hate the US standard of a wacky, extreme (and usually unbelievable) character (eg, Kramer, Phoebe, Barney in HIMY).

When I was on sabbatical, I had E4 on and for a while found I got used to HIMYM...but soon after it just grated even more than before. Now I can't even bear to see it on the listings, immediately flipping over.

I know it's just a personal thing: made it through half an episode of 2 Broke Girls, thought the writing was ok but the whole tone was again grating.

Frasier's on in the mornings and that's another example of great characters and intelligent writing without too much mania...stuff like Everybody Loves Raymond and Rules of Engagement lie in the middle ground, never actually funny but at least not irritating (though agin Rules has an extreme character in david Spade)...Nige Lowreyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08626603640991107968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2156988513853971148.post-70441565160259099852012-08-28T13:01:32.516-07:002012-08-28T13:01:32.516-07:00Cheers will always be the greatest sitcom for me.....Cheers will always be the greatest sitcom for me... but I must confess to becoming rather addicted to How I Met Your Mother recently. It's comfortable viewing but as comedy, just the best of a poor selection, as you said...Nige Lowreyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08626603640991107968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2156988513853971148.post-26985405011256128202012-08-28T00:31:06.338-07:002012-08-28T00:31:06.338-07:00I miss Cheers. When the only watchable (but unfunny) sitcom these days is Big Bang Theory, it goes to show how moribund the genre's become, to quote A Partridge.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02481185191765473608noreply@blogger.com
