Lots of talk about formatting and colouring on the blogs, e-mails and pub tables recently. haven't had time to take anything onboard yet but here's the final colour pic of that Claire pic, which was never really intended for colour. For a quick colour job, I quite like this one, although there's room for improvement as ever...

That skintone is really impressive - very natural looking, I think.
Freaky undead purple lips though.
Nah, it's very nice indeed. Now stop there Nige. Move along. It's finished. Over. Done with.
Don't even think about it.
Um...wasn't me who said "If you're gonna pay for a colour cover, you may as well HAVE a colour cover!" Unless you meant an original cover, not summat just lying around...
Skintone is usually judged by eye with me so can be variable (animation actually has male and female fleshtone colours apparently). This was one of the good mistakes :)
Just taking the piss as usual after your 'room for improvement' remark.
The skin colour's nice but it's your spot on shading that brings it out, almost in an Adi Granov style.
I usually just follow the DC guide and start with somewhere around a 20% yellow 20% magenta mix as the base colour.
You know, I've only done the head, there's a whole body for me to add to this prolonged work in progress...
...and then the rest of the cast...
...and a backdrop...
But you're right on the money, it's the pencil undershading that adds most of the depth. Thanks for the Granov semi-comparison--while I'll never be as good technically or artistically, reading his technique goods has helped me with some of my art methods...
