Nice art, but I think the lettering lets it down. It's a nasty font (Times New Roman?) and some of the balloon placing is off. Kind of reminds me of teh Twighlight GN adaptation. If you need a hand lettering let me know and I'll sort it out for you

I spent ages lettering the buggering thing but as I don't know how to letter in Photoshop or Illustrator yet, I scanned in a bunch of balloons and tails, resized/fiddled with them accordingly and had to letter a line at a time as there was no automatic spacing.

Bloody nightmare, it was!
I was trying to avoid having to call out for help when really I should have (especially as it's only five pages).

Any help would be great!

Hmm... semi-autobiographical?

Good to see you drawing sequentially again!

send me the art at print size and an electronic version of the script and I'll knock the lettering together for you. The main problem is the font.

Lettering in Illustrator is a piece of cake, but in Photoshop should be avoided at all costs as it's not really for that and you lose all the crispness. Illustrator lets you do everything in a couple of clicks. Lonely Boy took me anout 2 hours to letter in it's entirity,

Rol: Less semiautobiograhical and more wish fulfilment :)These pages are a few months old but I'm hopeful I might get rolling agin soon...I did my first drawings for myself (rather than requested work)recently for the first time in at least 18 months, so here's hoping. The mind is willing, the body is begrudgingly accepting but the soul (should such a thing exist) is still way too distracted :)

Davey: Cheers very very much (seriously: i appreciate any and all help with lettering as mine's shite--though my balloons are usually nice) for the offer of help but Tone's jumped in. I originally intended to send these off for print last week when I got paid but I'm already down to less than £100 till 12th Jan so that's on the backburner till then!

Even though you offered, I didn't want to chase you up as it's Xmas time and no doubt you have lots to do (bet it'll be an interesting new experience, your first Xmas as a married man---then again, alcohol tatses the same whether you're married or not :) )so lettering tootsweet would have been the least of your concerns!

Tone has given me the latest Photoshop (CS3?)which I think has Illustrator, I'll have to have a tinker when I find the time (you should see my read pile now, it's horrendous!)

BTW, I've saved you a copy of that I book I wrote about comic films: it's far from perfect but give us a shout if you want a copy...

Not a problem.

CS3 latest We're up to 5 now, but Illustrator is so easy to use, basically copy text, draw a balloon, centre upways and sideways, draw tail, fiddle about if you can be arsed, done.
